Better Bones & Balance is a specialised, physio-led group class designed to enhance bone strength, improve balance, boost mobility and strengthen your core, so you can stay active, independent and confident in daily life.

New clients start with a physiotherapy assessment. Classes run at the Hibiscus Sports Complex, Upper Mount Gravatt.

Book your assessment

New clients complete an initial assessment with a physiotherapist or exercise physiologist before joining. Health fund rebates may apply.

GP letter and BMD scan

A Bone Mineral Density (BMD) scan referral via your GP is recommended. We can provide a GP letter to help arrange this.

Join the class

Start your guided programme, led by a physiotherapist or exercise physiologist, to build bone strength, balance, mobility and core strength in a supportive group.

Medicare type 2 diabetes pathway

If you live with type 2 diabetes and have a GP chronic condition management plan, you may be eligible for the Medicare group exercise physiology pathway: an individual Exercise Physiology assessment (MBS item 81110), followed by up to eight group Exercise Physiology classes across the calendar year (MBS item 81115). Where suitable, eligible clients can complete the assessment and then take part in Better Bones and Balance. Ask your GP whether you are eligible.

Who is Better Bones & Balance for?
The class is designed for adults over 50, and is especially suited to people concerned about falls or balance, or those looking to build strength and mobility. Your initial physiotherapy assessment helps make sure it is right for you.
What do I need to do before I join?
New clients complete an initial assessment with a physiotherapist before joining the class. Health fund rebates may apply, and Medicare Care Plans are accepted for assessments.
Do I need a bone density scan?
A Bone Mineral Density (BMD) scan referral via your GP is recommended. We can provide a GP letter to help you arrange this.
Are there other classes available?
Yes. Diabetic Group Exercise Classes are available with an Exercise Physiologist. Ask reception about the current timetable.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
A minimum of 4 hours notice is required for any class cancellation, or a fee of 100 percent will apply. Class packs are non-refundable.
